What Does It Mean to Learn at The Texas Girls School?

Hands-On

At The Texas Girls School, hands-on means curiosity in action. Students learn through fieldwork, projects, and real-world problem-solving that connect Texas history, science, culture, and the natural world. Exploration is central to learning here because discovery builds confidence, and confidence fuels success.

STEM-Focused

Being STEM-focused is about how students think, not just what they study. Science, technology, engineering, and math are woven throughout the curriculum using creativity and design-based thinking. Girls explore how things work, why they matter, and how to make them better, building skills for future careers in high-demand, high-impact fields.

Girls-Focused

The Texas Girls School is intentionally designed for girls. Research shows that girls thrive in environments where they can lead, take risks, and express themselves freely. Here, every student is encouraged to explore her strengths, speak up with confidence, and see herself as a leader, academically and beyond.

A Day in the Life at The Texas Girls School

Learning That Feels Real, Purposeful, and Exciting

At The Texas Girls School, learning isn’t something that happens to students — it’s something they do. Our middle and high school days are built around curiosity, challenge, collaboration, and exploration. Students experience hands-on STEM learning, deep thinking in humanities, creative expression in the arts, and real-world inspiration — all in a supportive, all-girls environment that helps every girl find her voice.

Morning: Building Confidence and Community

Each day starts with our morning meeting, where we share news about the school and the girls share what’s important to them.

In leadership class, the girls reflect, set goals, and practice communication and teamwork. Here, they begin building their Graduate’s Journey Portfolio — a personal record of growth, accomplishments, and aspirations that follows them through grade 12. This time grounds the day in purpose and helps girls take ownership of their learning.

Core Academics: Rigorous and Relevant

Math & Science
Students tackle math and science through inquiry, exploration, and real problem-solving. Small class sizes and extended blocks allow girls to dive deep, persevere through challenges, and see themselves as capable innovators — preparing them for advanced coursework and future opportunities. Our math curriculum and team meet girls where they are.

English & Social Studies (Humanities)
Humanities blends reading, writing, history, and critical thinking into rich stories that connect ideas to the world around us. Through discussion, debate, and purposeful writing, girls sharpen their voice and learn to think with empathy and depth.

Creative Expression: Art and Design

Art at The Texas Girls School isn’t an “extra” — it’s a way of thinking. Students explore painting, sculpture, digital design, and media, using creativity to solve problems and express ideas. Projects often weave together STEM concepts and artistic exploration, proving that innovation and imagination go hand in hand.

Fridays: Inspiration Meets Innovation

Friday is a highlight of the week. Our Women in STEM Speaker Series brings local professionals — scientists, engineers, technologists, and leaders — to campus so students can see real career paths in action. Afterward, students participate in Flex Friday Exploratories, where they test ideas, iterate designs, prototype solutions, and celebrate learning through doing.
