Mission & Vision
Mission
Our mission is to challenge and nurture young women to thrive in future global markets through personalized STEM advanced academics.
Through a supportive small school and single-gender environment, project-based learning, and STEM advanced academics, we prepare all girls to excel in the local and international economy by cultivating a world-class education of career and college readiness skills.
Vision
Our vision is to create compassionate and confident leaders who consider both the local and global impact of their actions.
All students will graduate college and career-ready with the skills needed to successfully navigate their postsecondary journey — innovation, problem solving, creativity and goal-setting. They will develop a portfolio of learning experiences, focused on STEM and inclusive of the arts, in order to embrace their full potential and confidently pursue their life aspirations.

We’ll chart a new TRAIL together.
Our Core Values
Our Texas-First and Girls-First program is captured in the acronym TRAIL—Texas Identity, Relationships, Advancing Women in STEM, Intentional Growth, and Livelihood. These core values are the foundation for transforming our girls into high-impact women.
Texas Identity through Our Shared Science, History & Culture
By first exploring Texas' rich history, science, and culture, and then connecting these lessons to the broader world, we help students understand the global through a local lens. Unique courses like Texas Ecology and Texas Night Sky explore local engineering and environmental fieldwork.
Relationships
In our supportive, all-girls environment, students feel confident to take risks and explore their potential. Small class sizes foster close bonds, meaningful discussions, and a strong sense of belonging, empowering young women to lead, collaborate, and grow.
Advancing Women in STEM
Through hands-on engineering and computer science pathways, we empower students to tackle real-world challenges. Our project-based learning, advanced STEM tracks, and capstone projects prepare young women for success in college and careers, fostering innovation and critical thinking.
Intentional Growth
We encourage self-discovery and personal development by setting meaningful goals and reflecting on their progress. We emphasize that growth goes beyond academics—it’s about understanding one’s strengths, passions, and areas for improvement. Through goal setting and creative expression, students build self-awareness, and confidence, empowering them to live out their purpose.
Love of Learning
We create a school environment where both students and teachers are excited to come every day. By prioritizing wellness, health, joy, and balance, students are empowered to make smart decisions and build sustainable futures. Teachers thrive with flexible schedules and a supportive atmosphere, letting their passion shine in every lesson. Through vibrant extracurriculars and arts programs, students explore their interests, celebrate achievements, and foster well-being.
What’s a Non-profit Public Charter School?
A nonprofit public charter school is a tuition-free institution that operates independently from traditional public schools, providing us with the flexibility to design innovative curricula and teaching methods while meeting state education standards. Our incredible program is made possible through generous donations, allowing us to continue offering exceptional educational opportunities to our students.
-
No, The Texas Girls School is tuition-free, ensuring that all girls, regardless of financial background, have access to a high-quality education focused on STEM and leadership. Our school operates thanks to state funds and the generous support of donors, whose contributions allow us to offer exceptional opportunities and experiences to our students.
-
We are funded through the generous support of private donors and community fundraising efforts, in addition to public funds provided by the State of Texas. While we receive per-pupil funding similar to traditional public schools, our ability to offer specialized programs such as STEM and leadership education for young women is made possible by the generosity of our donors. This blend of public funding and private support ensures that The Texas Girls School remains tuition-free while delivering an exceptional, high-quality education.
-
The Texas Girls School does not have selective admissions requirements. As a public charter school, it is open to all students, and there are no entrance exams or academic prerequisites for applying. However, if there are more applicants than available seats, a lottery system may be used to ensure a fair selection process. This approach ensures equal opportunity for all girls interested in joining the school.
-
The Texas Girls School is held accountable by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). We must meet academic performance standards and financial management requirements. If we do not meet these goals, the state has the authority to intervene, ensuring accountability just like in traditional public schools.
